Significance of this pooja: The Rahu Ketu Dosha Parihara Pooja at Sri Kalahasti Temple is considered one of the most effective remedies for Rahu/Ketu and Kala Sarpa doshas. This special pooja involves worshipping a silver snake (sarpam) which is then offered to the temple as a donation by dropping it in the Hundi. It's believed to alleviate the negative effects of these planetary positions and remove obstacles in one's life.

NOTE: This pooja is for one person only. If you are booking for more than one person, kindly increase the quantity while placing the order. Thank you.

About Sri Kalahasti Temple: Sri Kalahasti is one of the Panchabhoota Sthalams, representing the element of Wind. It's one of the most famous Shiva temples in South India, renowned for its self-manifested air-linga and is considered especially powerful for Rahu-Ketu related issues. The temple is also associated with Kannappa, one of the 63 Saivite Nayanars, who offered his eyes to stop the bleeding of the Shiva linga.

How the pooja is performed: A representative performs the pooja on your behalf at the temple. The ritual includes:

  1. Worshipping a silver snake (sarpam)
  2. Offering prayers to Lord Shiva
  3. Donating the silver snake to the temple's hundi

For best results, the pooja is recommended on Sundays or Tuesdays during Rahu Kalam, though it can be performed daily between 6:30 AM and 9:00 PM.

Benefits of the Pooja:

  • Mitigation of Rahu-Ketu doshas
  • Removal of obstacles in marriage
  • Assistance in childbirth for couples
  • Overall improvement in life circumstances
  • Spiritual growth and connection with Lord Shiva

Unique Features of the Temple:

  • Air-Linga: A constantly flickering lamp inside the inner sanctum, despite lack of air movement
  • Swayambhu Linga: A self-manifested white linga
  • Famous for Rahu-Ketu Parihara: Known for its effectiveness in mitigating Rahu-Ketu doshas
  • Other Panchabhoota Sthalams: Chidambaram, Ekambareswara (Kanchipuram), Jambukeshwara (Thiruvanaikaval), and Tiruvannamalai

Temple Legend: The temple is named after three devout animals - a spider (Sri), a snake (Kala), and an elephant (Hasti). Each worshipped the Vayu linga in their own way, unknowingly disrupting each other's offerings. Lord Shiva, impressed by their devotion, granted them moksha and immortalized their names in the temple's name.

    Additional Information:

    • Sri Kalahasti is also known as Dakshina Kailasam (Southern Kailash)
    • The temple's architecture prevents elephants from accessing the deity directly
    • Thousands of devotees from India and abroad perform this puja, often returning to fulfill vows after receiving positive results
    • The temple arranges all puja materials
